Why FedoraCoin.org?

This site has been created to provide a working windows wallet, blockchain explorer, provide important information on the original FedoraCoin and assert this historical crypto currency in a modern space. The original site for this coin, Fedoraco.in, has fallen out of support. Download links no longer work and the support team can no longer be reached.

FedoraCoin Origins

FedoraCoin, trading symbol TIPS, was released on December 21st of 2013 (15 Days after Dogecoin).

Based on the *Tips Fedora* meme this was designed to be a coin of generosity and kindness.

The original developers of FedoraCoin implemented a Coin-Mixing directly into the blockchain as a privacy feature. FedoraCoin was the first cryptocurrency to have this feature implemented directly into its blockchain.

FedoraCoin experienced global involvement from a small but strong community for 5 years, and survived through 2 development teams. The first team disbanded in 2016, the second in 2018.

FedoraCoin's blockchain has continued to run unsupported and has never been successfully attacked.

FedoraCoin Vs FedoraGold

FedoraGold was then launched in 2018 as an intended replacement to FedoraCoin. Many community members believed this to be a malicious attempt at a takeover, if not a total scam.

FedoraGold originally developers offered a swap of FedoraCoin for FedoraGold on the since discontinued platform http://coinexchange.io/

FedoraGold developers promised they would burn all FedoraCoin swapped, but no proof of this burn has been published in nearly 4 years. What has happened to the swapped coins remains unclear.

CoinMarketCap currently has FedoraCoin flagged as having been swapped to FedoraCoin. An inquiry has been open to remove this flag as FedoraCoin, and we ask that anyone interested in seeing this changed open their own inquiry at: https://support.coinmarketcap.com/hc/en-us/requests/new

FedoraCoin Stats and Features

Algorithm: Scrypt - Block time: 60 seconds - Difficulty Retarget: 10 Minutes
Max coins: Originally 500 Billion, Set to an unlimited Supply in 2018 by the last development team.
KGW algorythm: Adjusts mining difficulty more frequently, helping to dissuade mining attacks on the FedoraCoin blockchain.
Coin-Mixing: A privacy feature built into the FedoraCoin blockchain.

What's Next?

We work to rebuild the once vibrant FedoraCoin community.

Once the community is established we can use our voice to work with CoinMarketCap to have FedoraCoin again recognized as it's own coin.

We can also work to find developers that are willing and able to contribute to this coin through more wallet development, and potentially discuss what directions this coin can go in.
